Now Accepting Applications for the John M. Belk Impact Fellowship

April 16, 2021

The Hunt Institute is pleased to be accepting applications for the second cohort of the John M. Belk Impact Fellowship. The Fellowship is a 10-month long (August-May) paid program that provides hands-on experience for students currently enrolled in community college, undergraduate, or graduate programs in North Carolina. Building on the success of the John M. Belk Scholarship program, and the belief that talent is universal but opportunity is not, the Fellowship serves as a training ground and networking experience for future generations of social impact leaders.

To gain exposure to the inner workings of organizations playing a variety of critical roles across North Carolina’s education landscape, Fellows could be placed at organizations such as nonprofits, education systems and institutions, and philanthropy. While in their placements, Fellows will gain hands-on experience in an area of their interest, whether that be policy, philanthropy, finance, program management, or communications. This year, our 14 Fellows have worked on exciting projects within their organizations. Examples of our Fellows’ work includes managing a high-profile lecture series, creating a podcast about the challenges of community college students, and developing tools to make the FAFSA process easier for students and families.
